Aircraft Design & Analysis

DARcorporation engineers have participated in the design and analysis of the Transcend Air Vy 400 VTOL inter-city commuter aircraft. Powered by a single turboprop, this tiltwing aircraft will be faster, less expensive and safer than traditional helicopters of similar capacity.

Starting from an initial conceptual design provided by Transcend, our engineers performed the full preliminary design using DARcorporation Advanced Aircraft Analysis (AAA) program as well as in-house created tools. Design of this aircraft included:

  • Weight & Balance for Two Different Missions

  • Wing, Empennage and Powerplant Sizing
  • Main and Tail Rotor Sizing for Hover and Vertical Flights
  • Main Propeller Design including Blade Twist and Chord Distribution
  • Wing Tilt Mechanical Design
  • Landing Gear Design
  • Structural Layout
  • Stability and Control
  • Trim and Trim Diagrams
  • Flying Qualities in Both Helicopter and Airplane Modes
